On stage this November
By Tracy Letts, winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama
A family comes home, and nothing stays quiet for long. When Beverly Weston, the family poet who has always liked a drink, walks out one Oklahoma afternoon and doesn't come back, his wife Violet and their three daughters are pulled together under one roof. Old grudges float up, jokes fly, secrets come out and nobody holds anything back. It is darkly funny, fiercely big hearted, and the sort of night you find yourself talking about all the way home.
Thirteen of our company are bringing it to the Imperial Rooms stage, directed by Alicia Bloundele and Rose Oliver. Come for the rows, stay for the way a room full of people holds its breath together.
Our Pay What You Want tickets are there so nobody misses a show. Our summer revue Love & Lust finished its July performances and now sits in the archive.
We are excited to report that The High Tor Players' 2025 production of The Crucible by Arthur Miller has been awarded NODA's coveted East Midlands Outstanding Play award (Districts 1-5), and Best Play for East Midlands District 2.

High Tor Players is now a registered charity (charity number 1219197). In plain words: Matlock's amateur theatre is here to stay, and it belongs to everyone who wants to watch, to act, to paint a flat or to pop the kettle on.
To be honest, the charity bit doesn't change much. It just puts on paper what we've always done. Every penny we take goes straight back into the shows: timber for the sets, fabric for the costumes, hire of the hall, and Pay What You Want tickets so nobody misses out because of the price. Nobody earns a penny from High Tor. We do it because we love it, and we'd love you to be part of it.
